On behalf of the Fresh Start Foundation’s Family Self Sufficiency Program (FSS) and Kingsport Housing and Redevelopment Authority, we would like to congratulate Megan Killen on her recent graduation from the FSS Program. Megan was able to attain all of her goals and receive a check for the ESCROW she gained while participating in the program. ESCROW is an interest bearing savings account made possible by contributions from The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The FSS Program is a voluntary program designed to help public housing and housing choice voucher participants achieve economic independence. The FSS provides opportunities for employment, education, home ownership, counseling, and the skills you need to achieve and maintain a life free from government assistance. Services such as career counseling, job training, computer skills, job search, budgeting, financial planning, resource referrals, self-improvement workshops and home ownership workshops are offered through the program at no cost to the participant.
If you are currently receiving housing assistance from Kingsport Housing and Redevelopment through Public Housing or the Housing Choice Voucher program and would like more information on how you can enroll in the FSS Program, please call David Saunders at 423-392-2526.
